Orlando’s Lake Lancaster to receive alum treatments

Notification of Treatment on Lake Lancaster

In an effort to improve water quality, the City’s Streets and Stormwater Division has chosen to treat Lake Lancaster with 5 applications of aluminum sulfate (alum). If weather permits, the first round of treatment days will be on April 21 and 22, 2022. Tanker trucks will be set up on Lancaster Drive and S Mills Avenue. The alum will be applied by boat throughout the entire waterbody. During the application process, no boating activities should occur. After completion each application day, boating and any normal water related activities may resume to normal. Irrigation can be used as normal during the treatment process. After each application, the City will continue to monitor the lake's status and address any issues that may occur.
