UPDATE: Lake Alert for Lake Rowena EXTENDED

January 19, 2022: Recent lab results from a sample collected by the City of Orlando at Lake Rowena indicate the continued presence of algae toxins in the water column.

The City of Orlando Stormwater staff have been continuously monitoring and sampling Lake Rowena since the initial Lake Alert was issued on May 27, 2021.

As a result of the most recent results, Lake Rowena will continue to be closely monitored by the City and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) staff.

The City and/or the FDEP may collect samples for analysis at a future date (possibly 4-6 weeks) determined by the FDEP for Lake Rowena and will provide updates on any possible detection of algae toxins as reported on the FDEP Algal Bloom Reporting dashboard (https://floridadep.gov/AlgalBloom).

At this time, the Lake Alert for Lake Rowena remains in effect until further notice.

Please continue to refrain from recreating on the lake, including swimming, fishing and boating.
