Drown-proof your kids by sending them to summer swim classes
This summer, the City of Orlando will offer a variety of eight-week swimming classes to suit all ages from babies to adults. Registration is now open, with classes starting at $40 per week for residents and $50 for non-residents.
Learning how to swim at any age is beneficial as statistics show that there are 10 unintentional drownings each day in the United States. This is especially true for Florida, which loses more children under the age of five due to drowning than any other state.
Aquatic summer programs are available for those who know how to swim but wish to participate in water-based activities. Programs include the recreation swim team, water aerobics, adult fitness and junior lifeguarding.
