Monofilament Collection Container Giveaway April 17th

On April 17th beginning at 9 a.m., staff at R.D. Keene Park Boat Ramp (10900 Chase Road in Windermere) will hand out mini monofilament recycling collection containers designed to fit on your boat, kayak or canoe. These collection containers will allow for individual monofilament collection on our inland waterways and eventual recycling at any of Orange County's permanent recycling stations (see link below).

Each day, improperly discarded monofilament fishing line causes devastating problems for marine life and the environment. Marine mammals, turtles, fish and birds become injured from entanglements, or ingest the line, often dying as a result. Human divers and swimmers are also at risk from entanglements and the line can damage boat propellers.
