Cypress Creek Watershed
Scientists are still unsure about all the different functions cypress knees serve and what conditions cause them to form. Like other roots, they help to anchor/stabilize the tree, seek out nutrients, and store reserve sugars, but they also provide other services to the tree, like helping with gas exchange in oxygen-poor, flooded soils.
